Tape Hair Extensions are extremely popular for the summer. One of the best parts of having tape hair extensions is the fact that if they are cared for correctly, they can last between 6-8 weeks. That’s 2 months of fabulous, long, and thick locks. After that time, you can come into the salon for your refit which is charged at a discounted cost. Tape-In installation takes an estimated three hours for a full installation. The installation includes a shampoo, hydration treatment, clipping of the ends, installation and style. It’s very important that your hair is completely healthy before installation.

To get maximum longevity out of the tape extensions it is important to make sure you are brushing straight down from where your hair grows naturally. Shampoo your extensions regularly. At least every 2-3 days. Generously condition your extensions, avoiding the scalp/tab area completely.

TAPE BOND REMOVER/DISSOLVER

The Sticker Remover by Seiseta is a high-quality formula that removes Tape-In Extensions. Alcohol-based removers are generally in a liquid spray form. Spray directly above the tape in hair extension tab. Allow time for the alcohol based remover to seep down in between the tape tabs and gently peel apart. Use additional spray as the corners are lifted to aid in the removal process. Fold a paper towel into a pad and place it underneath the section of hair to be removed.

DOS OF TAPE-IN HAIR EXTENSIONS

Firstly, do brush your hair extensions before shampooing them. Helping eliminate any tangles, which can be made worse by the stress of shampooing. Do hold the top of the hair extensions with one hand when brushing. This will stabilize the hair and prevent putting unnecessary stress on it. Do brush your hair from scalp to ends at least twice a day. This helps prevent tangles and will evenly distribute your hair’s natural oils for extra shine and improved texture. Finally, do use a heat-protectant spray before styling your hair. This applies to blow drying, straightening, or curling your hair. The spray can help reduce damage to your extensions and your natural hair.

DON’TS OF TAPE-IN HAIR EXTENSIONS

Firstly, don’t color your hair extensions on your own. They can be colored, but this should be done by a professional to avoid damaging not only the extensions, but your natural hair as well. Don’t wash your hair every day. Washing your hair every day can strip your hair of the natural oils that give it its shine and texture. Washing every day with hair extensions can wear down the adhesive quicker, which can shorten their lifespan. Furthermore, don’t wash your hair or sweat excessively for at least 24-48 hours after getting tape-in hair extensions. For best results, wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo the day of your appointment. And avoid washing your hair or working out for a couple of days. Finally, don’t apply conditioner to your scalp. You should be applying conditioner starting below the hair extensions, concentrating on the ends of your hair.
